The Vortex Garden in Darmstadt is a magical and blissful location great for kids and adults.
If you caught my previous post, A Day in Darmstadt, the Vortex Garden is directly across from Mathildenhöhe. Although Mathildenhöhe was interesting to see, the Vortex Garden brought my children to life. In the couple of days since we visited, they have been begging to go back. The Vortex Garden on the grounds of a private home, Haus Martinus, and features beautiful garden art, water features, sitting spaces around the property, and even trampolines for kids. For me it was like wandering into a giant fairy garden. I instantly felt at peace surrounded by the natural beauty and trickling water from every direction. We visited the end of March so you will notice there was little foliage. During the summer months I can imagine an absolutely breathtaking space. We plan to return later this year and pick up coffee and pastries to sit and enjoy the location while the kids bounce and explore. So far it's been our favorite place to visit here in Germany. We just touched the surface in Darmstadt so we will definitely return, and hopefully, include an overnight stay at Haus Martinus.
